Yesterday, I had the opportunity of delivering an overview of investment banking careers and M&A at UCL.Every year, I see students tripping over the same hurdles in their quest to break into banking. It's time to quit tripping and start sprinting!🕵️ Here are some insider tips from someone who has placed more than 250 students in banking over the past 7 years at top companies including Goldman Sachs, UBS, JP Morgan and MS among many others. ✅ The early bird catches the worm. Make your move now! Secure spring weeks and summer internships to give yourself a head start when it comes to graduate jobs.✅ If leading investment banks like Goldman Sachs or J.P. Morgan shut their doors, don't lose heart. There's a whole world of boutique investment banks awaiting your application.✅ Did you know there are over 2,000 financial services companies in the UK? Set a high target; aim to apply for 50 to 100 jobs each month. That's how you secure 2 to 5 interviews per month.Ready to break into banking like a pro?

I recently participated in JPMorgan’svirtual job simulation on the Forage platform, and it was incredibly useful to understand what it might be like to be part of an investment banking team at JPMorgan. The job simulation enabled me to become more familiar with advanced Excel and PowerPointand to develop my passion for supporting clients through large, complex transactions. These are the tasks I performed during my internship.* Identified an ideal M&A target for a client based on an assessment of their strategic and financial criteria.* Constructed a DCF model to calculate the valuation of the M&A target andadjusted the model to account for a competitor bid and supply chaininterruption.* Created a 2-pager for the client containing a company profile and summary ofthe auction process.Overall it was a great experience ❤️ #jpmorganchase #jpmorgan #investmentbanking

Good Day Everyone! I completed the Markets (Sales & Trading) Job Simulation Completion Certificate today. It gave me valuable insights into what an intern in Sales & Tradings goes through at JP Morgan. In addition, I also learned about the role of JP Morgan in Market Sales & Trading. This virtual internship experience provided by Forage involves four essential tasks:-Pitch to the manager about potential clients with various profiles.-Analyze the current market environment and suggest an attractive investment opportunity to my client.-Learn about the process of the market liquidity and the flow of trades going in and out of the market, and learn about the process of trade executions and the post-trade cycle.-Deliver a pitch about JP Morgan's post-trade service to a client via an audio recording. As a first-year student, there were challenges in formulating my answers as I needed to do extensive research on JP Morgan's services in the public and private market and how an operating model works from offering collateral management, data & analytics, and global custody services. In addition, I also needed to gather specific economic data such as inflation numbers, central bank rates, and market prices to make an informed position in a trade idea. It was an insightful experience, and I look forward to doing more in the future while learning more about the Market Sales & Trading industry in the process.

Worried you will fail to land a job in investment banking? It's no secret the competition is fierce:💼 JP Morgan:270,000 applicants annually💼 Goldman Sachs:Over 250,000 applications💼 UBS, Morgan Stanley:70,000+ applicants each yearFeeling overwhelmed? Don't despair! Ditch the "lottery mentality" and consider this strategy:👉 Start at a Boutique Investment Bank:Instead of battling the masses, target smaller firms with more manageable applicant pools (a few hundred to a thousand).✨ Here are some success stories from City Investment Training:Four of my course graduates in the past three weeks secured offers at prestigious boutique and mid-market banks. Many will undoubtedly transition to leading firms later. In fact, most of my bulge bracket hires either started at boutiques or landed off-cycle internships at bigger banks such as UBS and HSBC.✋ But wait here's the catch! The only snag with boutique investment banks is that they need applicants who are already proficient with..✅ Accounting✅ Financial modelling ✅ Valuations and✅ Superior Excel and PowerPoint skills The Takeaway:Invest in Yourself:Gain relevant knowledge before applying. My course equips you with the skills sought by boutique banks.Seek Smarter Opportunities:Prioritize realistic options with higher success rates.Break the Cycle:Escape the "rat race" and carve your own path to success.Ready to make a strategic move? Learn more about my course and join the alumni network building fulfilling careers in banking!#investmentbanking #careeradvice #boutiquesuccess #breakthecycle
